Process Safety Assessment

Thermal runaway is one of the important causes of chemical reaction accident in fine chemical production. For chemical reactions, in any case, there is a risk of runaway in scaling up, once out of control, exothermic reaction rate will rapidly accelerate, if the system heat transfer effect is not good, heat generation and heat removal imbalance, will lead to a sharp increase in temperature, the reaction rate is significantly increased, Further accelerating the reaction rate or heat generation rate, it is possible to further trigger the decomposition of the reaction occurs, when accompanied by decomposition reaction and gas generation, there is a risk of runaway explosion of the reaction. Therefore, it is particularly important to obtain heat-related data in the chemical reaction process through the existing calorimetric technology.

C-NAS Certified Safety Labs
* With the concept of " EHS by design" , Langhua established the C-NAS certified safety lab to collect, analyze process data to optimize the process, ensure no any safety risk in scaling-up.
 


There are 6 engineers (1PhD, 2 master and 3 bachelor) in safety lab and all of them was majored in chemistry or pharmaceutical. The calorimetric equipment currently available in this laboratory mainly include RC1e, DSC, ARC, EasyMax, OptiMax, Easy Sampler, React IR, online-pH and TGA etc.
